Cinderella dressed in yella… you know the rhyme. We’re used to thinking of jump rope as a kids toy or something from the school yard, but turns out jumping rope is actually an awesome workout! The benefits are unmatched and it’s an easy on-the-go exercise outside of the gym, or P.E. class.
Even jumping rope at a moderate rate burns 10 to 16 calories a minute and it works your whole body. When you work your jump rope exercise into three 10 minute sets, you can burn 480 calories in half an hour! Just 10 minutes of jump rope is equivalent to running an 8-minute mile! Not to mention the increase in power, coordination, speed, cardio, and balance. Whoa.
We know just jumping in the same spot can seem a little mundane, so here’s a jump rope circuit to help you get the most out of your workout. Oh! Don’t forget your skipping rhyme, which helps too.
Do 3, 4, or 5 sets depending on your level. Rest for 2 minutes between.
