Tired of having just coffee for breakfast? Wanna save time and money by avoiding the drive-thru before work? If you’re desperate to switch things up, overnight oats are here to save the day – and your morning!
What are overnight oats? Basically chilled oatmeal you prepare the night before and let sit in the fridge until morning. Not only do they taste amazing, but they're also super convenient because you can make a big batch and have breakfast ready for the rest of the week! Oh, and did we mention they take absolutely no time or effort on your part in the morning? Here’s our go-to recipe:
Ingredients:
1/2 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup milk of your choice (alternatives like almond and oat milk work great!)
1/2 cup yogurt (plain or flavored, up to you)
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional, for sweetness)
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional, for extra flavor)
1/2 cup fruit of your choice (we usually do blueberries, strawberries, and sliced banana)
Directions:
In a jar or container with a tight-fitting lid, mix the first 6 ingredients together until well-combined. Fold in your desired fruit. Cover and refrigerate at least 4 hours or ideally overnight. In the morning, you can choose to top with additional ingredients like a sprinkle of nuts or some extra fruit, but if not, all you have to do is grab a spoon. Just stir and enjoy!
